    1. looking for the USB cable,
    2. plugging it in,
    3. starting iPhone Tunnel Suite,
    4. and then not being able to open files with a double-click.

For people in that situation, SSH over Wifi saves time and mouseclicks (unless the donwload speed is an issue -- which it can't be for these tiny plist files).

In other cases, where wifi is not yet set up or the connection is flaky, the USB cable is warmly recommended.

You recommend USB here "to get rid of that damn, unreliable and slow wifi connection".
Doesn't sound like someone who is happy with his wifi connection. If you don't have a "damn, unreliable and slow wifi connection", why did you say that?
The answer is to let others decide, based upon our experiences and especially based upon their needs, what is the most optimal procedure!

I honnestly tried both, and timed accessing a plist file with both methods : the USB connection through iphone tunnel suite is definitely 20% faster than the wifi connection! If you add the stability and reliability of the USB connection, my personal choice is made! It is up to others to decide what procedure is optimal to their needs!

I forgot to add the most important : everyone can set up both procedures in their computer, and based on their punctual needs use one or the other : both procedures work together without any conflict!!!!

Both methods are great. Thank you for the info. No need to continue to describe the pros and cons, because we get it. It ends up being a matter of preference. Some people would rather be tethered (especially if they're charging their phone as well) and some would rather not be tethered.

    Thank you both again!
----- If you need additional assistance, feel free to send me a PM. Cheers! -----

    Thanks, glad to help.

EDIT: I assume that where you said "tethered" it was a typo... To avoid confusion: tethering has nothing to do with the above -- we were talking about editing files on the iPhone.

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.

Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
    * on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
    * on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).

I get "CoreFoundation init failed!" error when I try to run Pledit. I'm on WinXP SP3. What could it be?

    do not double click :
Right click, and click open on the sub menu.

Same thing. CoreFoundation failed. Is it only one .exe file or I missing something?

This is the CoreFoundation.dll that is missing. It is installed with Safari for Windows.

It doesn't work for me. Maybe Safari is too new
