When Installer starts slowing down or when it refuses to start up, I usually use Mobile Finder and delete the RemotePackages.plist file or I copy it into the /Temp subdirectory within the /Installer folder. This file should be located under ~/Library/Installer . Installer will recreate this file, so don't worry about deleting it. If you want to be safe, copy it to another folder. This should help those instances in which Installer will not start up and continues to exit to the SpringBoard. It also speeds up the refreshes.

actually it doest make the refreshes faster cuz the "remote packages.plist" has the description of all the packages u got.. Yes it should help with the crashing issue.. But once u refresh that file is gonna build up again making installer crash endlesly (never endin cycle) Wut u guys should do is after it luckily loads up go immediately to the sources tab n delete as many sources as you can. @ will; all the ones with no title, uncategorized, those foreign repos.. Just leave the ones u truly no n use often.. As I said somewhere else use appcat n when a new app comes up, just add it to ur catalog.. No need to clutter ur sources n making load times longer.

I think that you're right, spyboy. It helps when Installer keeps crashing on startup. Maybe the faster refresh was wishful thinking. They really need to speed up the refresh time in Installer, and it should skip a repo if it is not responding. I usually use this site as my personalized repo to store my apps: http://www.touchtoolset.com/repo.sc/ . I hope that these guys stick around, since it works well, and you can choose as many apps as you want from different repos. Enjoy!

I noticed something, on my old installer I had all of shais sources and a few extra, no issues. When I updated however I added a few more, everything was ok then it started to crash. I renamed it, added all of shais sources then a added a few more and it crashed so my guess is that installer has become a little cramped. But why and with what?
