Default installer.app on iphone not uninstalling properly

Apologies if this is a very noob question.

I have installed installer.app on my iphone, which works fine BUT when I uninstall apps for some reason it doesn't seem to do it properly. My available space on the bottom of the screen does not reflect the uninstallation. Do I have to find some way to delete the files manually? I thought that was the whole purpose of uninstalling via the app? A restart/on of does not appear to fix this.

Also, why is it that the available space seems to max out at 100mb? is there some sort of ceiling for installing applications on the iphone? (I have 3 gb free on the iphone, but only 98.4mb available in installer.app)

    Thanks for any help/advice

Im having the exact same problem.

For example I installed many dictionaries for the wedict app, and after checking them I settled with the Longman.

Logging into the phone via WinSCP I checked the /private/var/root/Library/weDict and there are remmants of previous uninstalled dictionaries, for example:

    merriam-webster.idxc
    BritannicaConcise.idxc

    Also in /private/var/root/Library/Caches/Installer

there are a lot of folders with cache data sometimes 10 days old or more.

In these cache files alone, after a detailed inspection, I have 6.1mb of space used that I guess can be reclaimed by simply deleting them, but to do it I would like to know if these files are just temporary or not. Most of them are a week old or more.

    Suggestions?

The available free space installer reports is from a different partition on the iPhone! there was instructions a few weeks back on how to resize the iphones partitions to allow more program space!

If you are referring to the blue icon with the down arrow on your iphone, that when you go to its uninstall section it won't uninstall iteself, then this is what I did.

I used iBrickr and I reloaded the same installer.app on the phone. After rebooting my iphone, i went back to iBrickr and removed it from there. Poof no more installer.app on my iPhone.

    Good luck.

unfortunately thats not what I meant. I am talking about uninstalling programs installed BY installer.app.

Eg installing Summerboard, this takes up 0.7 mb of space. I have 96.4 mb of space indicated in installer.app after installing it. After uninstalling Summerboard, I still have 96.4mb of space. So why , after uninstalling, do I not get that memory back ? Should my free memory not go back to 97.1mb?

Obviously I am going to get to a point where I will run out of space, because the uninstalling the programs is not freeing up my memory.

Does this mean I have to use SSH to manually find these programs and delete them? Because that is a real pain in the ass and defeats the purpose of uninstalling, no?
