    Default installer.app

today I open installer app and wait for any update... and its missing alot of stuff. now you can only se Development, NEtwork and System secctions. Games, Productivity, and utilities gone , is this because the comunity stop supproting this aplication and delete all the comunity sources? or is this a Installer's people decision ?

I still have the full list of applications.... are you sure you have Community Sources installed... if yes, maybe uninstall, then reinstall it!?

some one mentioned an idea in the irc room yesterday I forgot the name but they had a good idea, is it possible to create a safe updater? one that would allow us to firmware update with out restoring.

Yes, this is possible. I did it for 1.0 to 1.0.1. I plan on doing it for 1.0.2, once I get things sorted out.

As far as getting it into Installer.app, I could try and make a package, but who do I send it to?

As soon as I get off work, i'll get to work on it. A diff has already been posted, so it should be easy enough for me to create the package and host it. I just need instrunctions on how to get it into the "comunity sources".

Its a nice idea, but the firmware could have updates to parts of the phone that you don't have access to, like the baseband for example.

I'm still on v1.0.0 and I don't plan on upgrading until the content patch is released.

    Hi!
    I canīt install installer.app with 1.0.2 firmware.
Installer ask me version 1.0 or 1.0.1, not 1.0.2
    What can I do?

    Thanks in advance

well, i see the problem in hosting the 1.0.x updates via installer.app in the copyright.
you would provide the files that apple has its copyright etc on it.
so they could easy just send you the lawyers, cause you "published copyrighted material".
    still, the idea would rock

It is my personal feeling (to be taken with 10 grains of salt) that Apple wouldnt go after you.... but they might

From what I've read, 1.0.1->1.0.2 doesnt update the baseband
