    Default imapidle and 1.1.3

i was wondering if anybody has imapidle working with dev team's 1.1.3. program runs and all that, it just won't save any settings. I tried changing permissions but that didn't work.

nevermind, figured it out. well for those who don't know, when you fill out your info in imapidle and click save, it saves it to /var/mobile/library/imapidle/preferences.dat. but imapidle is trying to read it from /var/root/library/imapidle/preferences.dat which doesn't exist. So just copy that imapidle folder into /var/root/library/. However, you must attempt to fill out all the info and save it prior to copying the directory, and any changes you make on the fly won't reflect until it copies over to the root folder.

after all that is done, i have imapidle working perfectly so far with dev team's 1.1.3

If you have to copy it over again and again, why not add a symlink in the root folder? That way, it's the same file accessed in both locations...

Thanks! The tip about imapidle looking in the wrong directory just put an end to about a half hour of google searching to figure out why the hell this wasn't working....

Hopefully a fix comes soon so we don't have to keep uploading the preference file to the other directory. Putting additional info like the subject and sender in the popup message would be nice too.

    Code:
    ln -s /var/mobile/library/imapidle/ /var/root/library/imapidle
That should do it. Couldn't test it though, so check for typos.

How does one go about adding a symlink? just type that into terminal on the iphone?

Also anyone know why imapidle keeps deactivating itself every few days? It's a great app, hopefully updates are still being worked on.

Does the same thing for me. Just turns itself off. I've searched several forums and haven't found an answer yet.

mr_t - yeah you just type that into terminal, whether on the iphone or on a mac.

leo - ive found that imapidle turns itself off either if 1) you restart your phone 2) you respring springboard such as when you install something from installer or 3) you're in an area with no connectivity (no reception or no wifi).

the way i handle it is by checking imapidle every so often and have the mail.app download mail 15 mins just in case its off and i dont know. annoying? kinda. but i would so rather do that and have no instant email notifications.

my friends have blackberries and we converse through free emails rather than texting.
