Default [HWPen][Solved] Uninstall eternal reboot problem

Ok this is for anyone who has tried to uninstall HWPen on their iphone and gotten the spinner of death.

I know from searching this has happened to quite a few people, and so far all replies have just told them to restore.

I hadn't synced in a while and didn't feel like losing my information so i found a solution(IT'S NOT COMPREHENSIVE) but it did get my iphone functioning again!

You will need to be able to access the filesystem over ssh, megaphone and all other usb FS access i have seen so far, don't allow access to root.

My phone was constantly resetting, but it did give me a one minute window to ssh in.

SO, when you get access go straight to
    Code:
    /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/
in that folder there is a file
    Code:
    com.apple.SpringBoard.plist
    you need to open this

    ON A MAC
you can just drag it to your desktop and then open it with the property list editor
and in EnvironmentVariables delete the DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES with the string value of /Library/HWPen/libHWIME.dylib
    REBOOT

    ALTERNATIVELY
Open it in a text editor and remove the lines

    Code:
    <key>DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES</key>
    <string>/Library/HWPen/libHWIME.dylib</string>
    REBOOT

I hope this helps anyone who suffers the same problem.
There are most probably still files left over, you can try to install hwpen and uninstall again, apparently though if you leave the spinner for 5-10 mins it will eventually succeed in removing it, though i've not tested this myself

I had the same problem. After uninstalling HW Pen, my phone would boot to recovery mode on every restart. A restore was neccessary.

Thats the app that allows handwriting recognition rite? Cuz I remember uninstalling one of those and the spring board wouldn't reset . I quit installer n that thing just kept spinnin n spinnin: so I gave it a lil time to copy bak my old keyboard from wherever it baked it up n gave it a hard manual reset. After reboot everythin was bak 2 normal with mah old cuzt keybd

Thats is where i and a few other people went wrong, we didn't wait.

Me personally because i've had the spinner of death a number of times before and no matter how long i left it nothing happened, so impatiently i hard reset it.

The issue can also be caused by the Applications limit in Springboard.

If by coincidence you install it when you have already around 70~80 apps installed, it is considered as an app (its preferences app).

Using SSH, you must move out some apps out of the Applications folder and Springboard will load up.

By the way, i'm using it everyday and can tell you that it is very stable. I never experienced a crash/bug with it. Just wrong recognition sometimes.

It worked perfectly for me, but i was far quicker using the keyboard, and it added an extra click when i wanted to get to the punctuation keyboard

It was a cool app, but for me it was useless.. Yeah why would anybody waste time tryin to get the input recognized while u can do it on a flash with the keys.
He should make it so that we completely get rid of the keyboard; he could implement like finger swipes or w.e to compensate for some of the keyboard functions. It blocks half the screen wastin precious space. When u try to type there should only be a space to draw the letters that's all. He should come up with somethin different n innovative not with the "same".

This works, Property List Editor is available as a part of the OS X Developer Tools, Xcode.

If you have ssh enabled and access to plutil for the iphone you can use the following command to fix the problem.

    plutil -r EnvironmentVariables /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.SpringBoard.plist

Saved me from doing a full restore.
