Interesting program, it tells me "only the most recent version of the iPod touch firmware is supported; please update."

I have the most recent firmware, and I have an iPhone...

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.

Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
    * on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
    * on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).

iClarified say you must have a 2.0.1 jailbroken iPhone or higher.

I'm about to restore my phone anyhow so I will test and let you know what happens

Yes, that would be interesting. How it mistook my iPhone for an iPod touch is a mystery to me.

I followed the guide and used the iClarified.png logo on my 2G iphone running 2.1fw and its work fine.

then I quickly uploaded a small hackint0sh image to "imageshack" and thats has worked as well.

Hm... after re-installing both LogoMe and cURL, as well as turning off OpenSSH, I tried again and it worked.
