Default [GPRS] but no 'E' Edge thus YouTube Problems on 1.1.4

    Hi All,

I'm can't seem to get the edge working correctly, the 'E' is missing out of the white box next to the carrier (on the iphone display) which signals GPRS. Thus when I'm not connected to WIFI i can't view anything on YouTube

I was a 1.1.1 OTB USA AT&T then it was unlocked on 1.1.1 and anysim UK T-mobile, and there was an 'E' edge symbol in the white box at all times. Enabling me to do everything once i entered my edge settings. Now I've upgraded to 1.1.4 with ZiPhone. I've re-entered the edge settings and no 'E' anymore because of this if i'm not in a wifi area i cant access YouTube the message "YouTube videos require an EDGE or Wi-Fi connection" is displayed.

    Can anyone help please

    thanks

This has been a problem since 1.1.2

I've now excepted the fact that youtube just doesn't work without wifi.

But there has been a few work a rounds, like replacing the
Youtube.app for the one from 1.1.1

But that was tried on 1.1.2

    I don't no if it will work on 1.3 & 1.4

Before 1.1.2 the firmware always assumed you had edge even if it was actually connected on gprs, since 1.1.2 it shows which you are actually using, and t-mobile in uk only has edge support in a very few areas, hence no E on 1.1.2 and above.

I guess this is because in states edge support is pretty much everywhere, so they didn't bothere differentiating, whereas O2 here only have it rolled out to part of the network still.
