Flash is disabled because it would kill battery life. I don't miss it. Don't forget, you are using the web on a cellphone. As for the saving of photos and such - I'm fairly sure Apple disabled this because it poses a security threat. Theoretically, you could accidentally download a virus to your phone, which could then spread across the cellphone network. It's not a likely situation, but I guess AT+T/Apple wanted to be safe rather than sorry.

*shrugs* I guess it's a matter of preference. I found Firefox to be quite resource intensive and unstable, so I switched to Camino. Many people use Safari over Firefox because Safari uses a photo's native color profile when it is displayed, Safari loads pages faster, and Safari uses Webkit, which offers the best browsing experience. But people use Firefox because of extensions and better ad blocking. I use Camino because, well, I like being different. Plus is blocks ads better than Safari does, and fits in better with the aesthetics of the OS then Firefox does. It's a nice balance.

Well as you said its matter of preference, but why a Palm can run flash and the iPhone not, I mean the battery issue its a good point but the battery only last (for me) 1.5 days so if the flash support reduces to 1 day its not a big deal

so after reading this it seems noone really cares about firefox itself, they just want flash and ad-blocking on safari.

I don't miss flash at all. 99% of flash use is ads or games or designers wanking off, and I don't need/want that on my phone. Ad blocking would be nice. A few other features - like open links in new window- would also be nice. But none require porting an entire new browser over.

Seems like noone really wants firefox, just a few minor features for mobile safari.

Mozilla CEO John Lilly has announced they're not making Firefox for the iPhone:

Lilly: No. Apple makes it too hard. They say it's because of technical issues they don't want outsiders to disrupt the user experience. That's a business argument masquerading as a technological argument.
    (source: http://www.wired.com/techbiz/people/...16-08/ff_lilly ).
So they would be interested but Apple is being a nuisance for commercial reasons. Another potential killer app that will never make it to App Store because of Apple's restrictive policies.

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.

Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
    * on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
    * on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).

Ya Opera announced the same thing. They'll not develop for the iPhone since Apple put too many restrictions. To be honest, I've used Opera Mobile and Minimo on my PPC and Safari on the iPhone is much much better. But we really need those flash and adblock plugins.

I really don`t care wheter it is Opera, Firefox or Safari. I just want a lite surf option because data prices here are steep.

I don`t need a 1280x1280 image to be loaded without scaling, the option to turn of or scale images would be great.

We all want our own options. That's why a browser with add-on (extension) capabilities would be great to have. Doesn't look like it will happen (though a few extensions like downloading to the phone, or viewing stored pdf/xls/doc files, have been hacked into Mobilesafari).
