    Default Fingerprint app, Idea

I am not sure this is possible but just as an idea that would be great if there would be a finger print app for iphoe. For example by putting you finger in a box iphone record your finger print and can recognize if the person is iphone owner and this can unlock iphone or some of it's features.

Good thought, but I doubt the screen is sensitive enough for your suggestion. It is a touch screen, not a fingerprint reader after all.

The touch-screen is definitely not sensitive enough. If you look into the screen at an angle when the iPhone is off, and you get the light just right, you can see the grid of wires inside the glass panel. They're something like 5px (1/32 inch) apart - not close enough for a fingerprint. The camera is unable to focus on nearby objects, so you couldn't photograph a fingerprint very well either. Try it yourself.

Camera can't do it but it may be possible to put one finger in the center for example and tap on a "take print" botton with the other hand's finger and iphone should take in one go and not scanning. Resolution is not really important and it may come up not very accurate but make work to use as a unlock key.

can some one point me to any documentation that states that a touch screen can be used for scanning fingerprints????

someone here obviously has no clue as to how a touchscreen works.
