    Default Enable/Disable SMS

I don't even know if this is possible but what if there was app similar to the services app (or maybe even included in it) where you can disable/enable SMS messages.

Often people want to see my iphone but I'm reluctant because I'm afraid I will get a text message while they're using it, and due to the nature of the text message alert, they can basically read whatever message I received.

I was thinking it would be cool to have an app with an on/off switch for receiving SMS messages that you could just flick to off then not have to worry about any loss of privacy. It would also be great for concerts/classes where you don't want to be receiving text messages.

The only issue I can foresee is how do you retrieve text messages that were sent to you while the SMS feature is turned off? maybe the app could store them temporarily until it is enabled again? that way it wouldn't screw stuff up with the SMS server? I'm not very well informed as far as this goes, it was just an idea.

BTW I just want to say I love all you programmers and developers, you are absolute geniuses. thanks for making the iphone such a great gadget!!!

cool! i never thought about airplane mode. my only question is what happens to text messages sent to your phone while its turned on? can they be retrieved somehow afterward?

LOL this got me thinking.. wouldn't it be cool if when you unlocked your phone you could essentially choose a user to log in as, a la mac os x? that way you could have like a 'guest' iphone account with only some applications/services allowed lol i love it
