The key is in the MobileBluetooth.framework.
It is written to support only HandsfreeService and PhonebookService.
(check the hidden com.apple.MobileBluetooth.services.plist in /var/root/Library/Preferences/)

If the framework had the obex support built-in there would have a third service inside this plist, it would be called ObexPushService

The odd thing is that BTServer (located in /usr/sbin/) does have support for all services.

I gonna try to push some files by using BlueTool/BTServer, if it works, we'll have to concentrate our work on doing our own OBEX MobileBluetooth.framework

While messing with BlueTool i found this:

ACL/SCO DATA?!?!? What do you think I am? A Bluetooth stack?

BlueTool using its scripts, is launched once just to test the CSR in loopback DUT mode and initializes it.
So no go in this way.

Anybody with framework dev skill can join us to try to make the BT file transfert a reality.

I don't think it's odd as Apple is using bluemagic and BM has implemented all the profiles. So I guess they simply used the libraries but implemented only a few services.

BTW, I tried to add additional services in the plist too but without success. The problem is also that the implementation of the service discovery needs to be aware of the new service so it can be announced. Furthermore, the BT class/subclass may have to be adjusted to represent the correct device capabilities.

I already traced the bluetooth traffic between PC and iphone and if necessary can provide a tracelog.

Maybe you should rethink this because:

a.) A2DP supports also individual codecs, e.g. MP3, although it's not wide spread, as of today

b.) I don't think you belong to those 0.01% of the people hearing any difference between 160kb/sec and 320kb/sec (or even lossless compressed) music

c.) Use a headset, not earpieces

To be honest, I'm satisfied with the A2DP quality, that's the reason why I'm working to get my BT piconet at home up and running, and the iphone is only one part of it

    This is a standard feature.
Is it implemented by default (PhonebookService) in MobileBluetooth.framework

By the way, you used a PC or Mac to do it ?
