Default Cydia doesn't download through wifi after updating to 2.2

    Hi,

I updated 1st gen iPhone from 2.1 to 2.2 using pwnage for mac.

However, after that Cydia doesn't download any package through wi-fi. It stops and then it doesn't install. It says return to cydia.

    However, it downloads through GPRS.

I tried command line apt-get. It also stops.

    Thanks,

    Shiva

Try to reset the network settings, helps in most cases after the update. Settings->General->Reset

Looks like the whole wi-fi in 2.2 is a problem.

Even emails were downloading very slow.

I downgraded to 2.1 and things started working fine.

    I am on a 1st gen iPhone.

I'm on 2.2 and it's fine nothing is a problem, the baseband is untouched so wifi hasn't changed from 2.1.
To correctlly install 2.2 do not update.
Dfu restore to 2.2 then use quickpwn. Then setup as new phone and sync contacts and stuff to the phone.
Pressing update in iTunes always makes a crappy phone.
    Good luck

My cydia works fine, your issue is you didn't go to 2.2 cleanly pressing update is dirty.

Well. I tried as you said. Restored to 2.2 using DFU mode and ran quickpwn. Same result.

Generally WIFI is slow. Even while downloading emails.

I tried with different accesspoints, with the same result.

Change wifi to b instead of g. you can use b+ if you want. wifi in g has sucked since change to 2.0 software. Its all over the apple fourms. apple has not addressed it yet. with your modem in b or b+ mode it will work much better, faster. Sorry I didn't tell you in my last post. I though most people knew, Its easy to find in google, "slow wifi on iphone."
It also effect the 3g. Some suggest its to make 3g speed seem faster, so they crippled the wifi speed on g mode.
    Good Luck
