Default [Categories] has broke my jailbroken 1.1.3

    Hi,

I’ve got a big problem with my iphone after installing and using the “Categories.app” on the soft jailbreak of 1.1.3
Before I wet to 1.1.3 I uninstalled all my apps, and have this evening been reinstalling them after successfully updating to jailbroken 1.1.3. Anyway, the customize or Summerboard/SMBPrefs would not install as I heard on the forums. “Catagories” installed fine, and I opened it up, created a new category and tried to move a few apps into it. I got an error dialog saying it could not perform this (I think a plist might have been mentioned). I then clicked the Reload Springboard button at the bottom of the Categories App. My iphone then crashed and hung. I did a rest holding the power and home button and now my iPhone is stuck at the black startup screen with the apple logo, and will not go any further regardless of further resetting/switching on/off

How can I get back into my phone? What are my options? Is it repairable?
My phone was bought from O2 in the UK, and I jailbroke using the usual methods and I use it with a non-iphone official contact i.e. a standard o2 contract, hence not a legit upgrade to 1.1.3
Am I going to have to go into recovery mode in iTunes? and if that is the case what do I have to do? can I downgrade back to 1.1.1 now that I’ve had the soft jailbreak of 1.1.3 installedvwithout ther being problems.

Please help me if you ca I would be eternally grateful and happy to donate for anyone who can help me.

I’m guessing there may be an issue with the categories app and jailbroken firmware 1.1.3.

Its 3:13 in the morning here in the UK, and I’ve been up all night with this and I have to get some sleep (if I can now). Really hope someone might have got me a solution when I awake or I’ll cry!

    Hi

I too have the same problem after iBrickr to 1.1.3 and re-installing my apps. Did a reset (red slider) and now I'm stuck with a iphone with apple logo. Tried to use iTune to restore but iTune can't detect my iphone.

    how?????

Yes you will have to goto recovery mode and you can downgrade to 1.1.1 but you'll have to jailbreak it with, jailbreakme.com

Thanks for your reply. will this cause any baseband/ boatloader problems though. Or at least after restored, jailbroken, upgraded to 1.1.2, then soft upgraded to 1.1.3 again?

    Hi

I went into recovery mode. Tried to downgrade to 1.1.1. iTune prompted me a 1011 error message. As my iphone was still in recovery mode, I used iBrickr to kick it out. I saw the Globe wallpaper and tried to find out the Modem Firmware version. To my surprise, the firmware is blank. What happen?

And also, I tried to downgrade to 1.0.2 using DFU via iBrickr. Upon step 3 whereby iTune is supposed to restore the firmware to iphone, iTune just hang with the prompt 'Waiting for iPhone'.....

Don’t know about the above situation but I have jus managed to fix mine by putting it on the dock (iPhone did recognise it the phone is still on the black start-up screen)

I then used iPhoneBrowser to delete the categories.app

Turn phone of and on and I get back in, everything is fine although I have Categories in my install list and I can not uninstall it from installer

i did all this before I was going to attempt downgrading to 1.1.1

    Angry

Same here man. I'm trying to downgrade right now, but Categories on FW 1.1.3 REALLY froze my iPhone.

EDIT: So far I've downgraded, but installing the AppSnapp is taking way too long....

EDIT 2: I was able to downgrade using this method. The iPhone is really stubborn and it took me about 1,5hrs to get it to work, but I did it.
