    Here's a recipe. No magic, all readable. Note there is a control-D character below that must be typed correctly.

    This is done from terminal and assumes you have ssh on the phone an and internet address for it.

    # create python program
    cat > patcher.py
    import sys
    print "Patching file SpringBoard. Pick point size for cell carrier name (10,12,14,16,18):"
    newpoint=sys.stdin.readline().strip()[-1]
    f=open("SpringBoard").read()
    print "Old font sizing:",f[0x7c690:0x7c698]
    print "New point size will be 1"+newpoint
    q=f[:0x7c697]+newpoint+f[0x7c698:]
    print q[0x7c690:0x7c698]
    open("SpringBoard","w").write(q)
    ^D [that's a control-D character]

    # get SpingBoard
    scp root@yourphoneIP:/System/Library/Cor...pringBoard.app/SpringBoard SpringBoard

    # run patch
    python patcher.py

    # put SpringBoard back again
    scp SpringBoard root@yourphoneIP:/System/Library/Cor...pringBoard.app/SpringBoard

    This is great as long as you keep your phone!!

    Just in case anyone hasn't realised, after doing this hack, if you pass you phone on in the future, unless you revert the springboard to the original, the phone has lost the intelligence to show the correct operator name for the SIM card inserted!

    Its going to show your hard coded graphic irrespective of the carrier SIM installed :-)

    Just thought I'd point that out..

    Now happy modding.

    You are right healeydave, that's why, in case I pass my iPhone on in the future, I will restore it to factory default settings, that's the right thing to do in such case.

    Quoting you: Happy modding!

On modmyiphone.net there is nothing in their guide about using a modded Springboard. Would like some clarification this if you could.

    Thanks
    This thread is for non-Usa residents who get uncomplete name of their carrier in springboard(exp. ROG...., T-Mob...etc.), thats because Apple didnt make more space on status bar for TEXT carrier name to fit. When U are in USA connected to USA carrier(AT&T, T-Mobile Usa..etc)iPhone is NOT using text for carrier name it using a *.png file(there are already some png carriers name logos in system),I think the network is forcing iPhone to laod png file for USA carriers,INSTEAD to show text. In forgein countrys that not avaible,iPhone is showing text for carrier name,and if your carrier name is long it wont fit. So patched springboard file is FORCING iPhone to load a .png file regardless on which carrier or country are U,it will ALWAYS load /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/Default_CARRIER_ATT.png, and /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/FSO_CARRIER_ATT.png. So u make your logo, rename it to "Default_CARRIER_ATT.png" (black type) and another with white type "FSO_CARRIER_ATT.png", upload it to /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/ over the orginals, and that logo will show on status bar! Is now clear?

    I made two more:

    Text Version

    Embossed Version (I think this one looks better than the first one)

    If someone wants them (obviously someone in Venezuela) they are here and here.

    Mine lists as "Rogers Wireless", not as all caps like your screen pic... wonder why.

    *UPDATE* - Works fine now, after SFTP copying the SpringBoard fix INTO the SpringBoard.app folder; and modifying Default_CARRIER_ATT.png, FSO_CARRIER_ATT.png to something like the Apple Logo.
