    I use beejive:

works great for msn, gtalk, ICQ, yahoo etc and alot less buggy than Apollo. yES, IT'S a java web app, but it works alot better at this stage. I don't cout apollo as stable until it doesn't require me to rest my phone.

I tried MobileChat first, but it was only for AIM as I could see.

Then I tried BeeJive -- http://www.beejive.com/iphone/ and LOVE it. Instantly knew all of my contacts on all services. Nice, easy to use, with themes and other customization possibilities.

Apollo has a nice setup, however I wished that it wouldn't crash. And if it were to crash, to keep a log of your conversations because when you log back in, you have no idea who said what.

I'm having the exact same problem.
It starts fine, but clicking on the Log In button results in a very loooong wait (screen dimmed, says Connecting <username>) and than a crash to springboard.

Same thing happens with both, AOL and ICQ accounts.
Also, after adding an account, i have to switch all of the accounts off then on a few times for it to register. If i don't, it will keep complaining there are no accounts set to active no matter how many of them actually ARE set to ON.

Weird, for me it works perfectlu.. are you sure that your phone company isnt blocking those ports?

I'm thinking that *perhaps* what is happening is that the error logging is screwed up, and instead of saying "can't connect" its just crashing...

    have you tried on wifi?

Tried in on WiFi and two different cellular networks. Same result.
I've just updated it to the latest version (1.0.2, appeared in Installer.app a few hours ago) and nothing seems to have changed.

I'm uninstalling it and reinstalling one more time...
