I've verified this, and CAN see my voicemail messages this way! They appear as the last received message, even though the sim is reported to be empty. This means that if I receive another message before I check aSMS then the notification is lost, but it's a fantastic step forward.

I'm on the Telstra network in Australia, our voicemail notification is sent from 101 which doesn't reach the iPhone SMS app.

If it were possible to schedule a check of this kind every minute or so, with a notification being displayed for a certain number (ie. 101 messages in my case) then that would pretty much fix this issue!

    Great job iUnknown

i tried, but when the banks sent me those One time passwords for login....still, I cannot receive them. The SMS (SIM) link shows EMPTY inside.

Anyone got those bank smses coming in? (they are sent without a number, but with an alphanumeric name e.g. Citibank)

    4) Tap on the Ulctl icon on the main menu
    5) Tap on com.googlecode.aSMS and select 'load'
    6) Tried using https://127.0.0.1 in safari but got a message 'could not connect to server'
    7) Went back to Ulctl and tapped on com.googlecode.aSMS and selected 'start'
    8) Still got the 'could not connect to server' in safari.

What am I doing wrong? Can someone please post steps to install this app. Thanks
After having installed ULctl, just select the ****.aSMS, and click on 'load -w'.
No need to click start. Then go to https://127.0.0.1 and you are done.

I got one of these from my VOIP provider with a confirmation code for signup which I'd been unable to receive via the SMS app.

However there are some circumstances where it seems to do weird things. I can restart the phone, check the SMS(SIM) and it reports "EMPTY". Then I get the VOIP provider to send an SMS that I know the iPhone can't receive, and then refreshing the SMS(SIM) page then shows the last properly received SMS instead of the VOIP one. I'm not sure if this is a bug in the aSMS code, but yesterday I did have success in seeing both the alphanumeric VOIP sms and my voicemail sms. Odd

ricochet, yup, the app is still a bit rough under certain circumstances and requires some debugging, which is not always easy to do when your testbed is a remote device and not directly running on your Mac.

yes - you must have reception with your carrier to send SMS, you can't send them over wifi unless you do it via a special website which acts as a gateway.

    Try when you're in range
