I am not sure edge can handle the bandwidth requirement of shoutcast, but I would LOVE to be proven wrong.

sure it works i actually use edge to listen radio streams from www.di.fm (96k mp3 stream on port 80 ) on my windows mobile smartphone (with windows media player, tcpmp or event with spb pocket radio)

no problem of buffer etc ... works fine

if my smartphone ender windows mobile can do it there is no reason that my iphone can't ?

i have tried , .pls , .sdp etc ... are not recognized buy safari

Not to be an unbleiver but how is this possible? Even loading web pages is painfully slow on my edge t-mobile network.

Even if edge is too slow, I'd be happy if I could stream audio when using wifi.

i would go even a step further and propose that itunes syncs my radio-playlist i have become very close to directly to the iphone without the need of an extra app.

just use orb even works with XM / Sirrus as well as Shoutcast and your whole damn music library. Works fine on EDGE better on WiFi of course.

I haven't found any indication that the iPhone supports streaming of either live video or audio at this point, which means that Orb (or Tversity) would only be useful for file-based content, which isn't really what the OP was looking for.

BeBoX: It looks like you are getting pretty close to the theoretical max for EDGE, which suggests you aren't competing with any other users for bandwidth, perhaps because not many people in France are using EDGE at this point in favor of UTMS?

I've seen speeds like you are seeing, but usually I'm seeing about half that.
