According to that, you can add cities from its list to your own clock, but there's really no way to add new cities. "If you don’t see the city you’re looking for, try a major city that’s in the same time zone."

If you're jailbroken and all, you could try editing /usr/share/tz_map.plist I have not actually tried it, but it seems to have the same cities that show up in the clock application.

It's not quite as simple as I thought, but it looks like it's controlled by the same standard mechanism that controls time zones in just about all UNIX-like systems. The UBUNTU forums time zone discussion describes the files needed to make it work. It's essentially an addition to /usr/share/zoneinfo/zone.tab and then making copies of 3 other files for your new city. It needs filesystem access, but it's doable.

    Right untested, but should work:

    Edit /usr/share/zoneinfo/zone.tab

copy an entry from your Country/Timezone and add it below as a new line, edit the name of it.

Change the Co-ordinates (they are lat and long).

Go to /usr/share/zoneinfo and copy the name of the place you copied in the zone.tab file to a new file corresponding to the entry you created.

If you are in a country with multiple timezones like america you will find the relevant files in a directory under /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/

copy the relevant city to your new "town" in the same directory, if you see what i mean.

EG I made a new entry for Wilburton (my village), form a copy of London and then copied the London entry from the Europe directory.

Not had a chance to reboot, so I cant see if it has worked... :-)

Yikes, sounds complex.... but quite doable considering what I've been experimenting with lol...

anyways, any idea about why a particular city wont work at all in weather? Sao Paulo is never found... I've tried adding the yahoo code for it, but no go... I can find a bunch of cities (even cities that also have accents in the name), I can find minuscule brazilian cities, but not sao paulo... crap....
