Default 3 of the coolest apps that might never be made for the iphone

    1. Background Service App - An application that makes all of your applications run as background services. You click on the home button and it just runs in the background and clicking on the application from summerboard opens it up again. With the backgroundservice.app on service board to manage and end services. Would be a cool feature
    2. Speech Recognition-You say a word, it synthesizes what you say and opens up an app or types for you or selects a certain webpage or something. Doubt this would ever be made but pretty cool.
    3. Brain Train Age - For someone to port the DS or PC version to the iphone. Check out the website www.brainage.com. If I had this game on the iphone. I would never get anything done

PC VERSION: Check out the pc version that is different from the ds version. http://www.braintrainage.com/ This version will be much easier to port to the iphone. Better and different from the ds version. Check it out. They have a free download as well.

    oh wait actually 4

    4. A native ringtone maker app - Where you can select a song and select the parts of the songs you want to use with your fingers of course? Click save and it adds it to your ringtones. Would be a sweet app.

Number One would be completely dependent on the abilities of the iPhone's OS. 2 would require a large amount of processing power and would be pretty impractical, but it would be cool to try. I could see 3 and 4 happening though, but no one is going to "port" brain age so to say, just rip it off. 4 would be awesome as well, and it couldn't really be that hard.

Speech recognition would take some sserious work, but basic voice commands (a la voice dialing) shouldn't be a problem at all. Heck, if a stinkin' Razr can do it, there's no reason an iPhone shouldn't be able to. You would be able to dictate notes, but opening apps wouldn't be an issue at all.

Personally, I'd rather have optical character recognition via the camera. I'd love to be able to snap a pic of a street sign and have it pop up on Google maps, or a business card and have it added to my address book. Now that'd be cool.

This is called OCX and it is very popular on Japanese phones. Now that we have QR code reading somewhat working on the iPhone, this shouldn't be too far off.

QR code reading is relatively easy because the QR code system's capacity and redundancy are amazing and easy to restore broken codes.
