    Pusher: Your 2.2 jailbreak

Is security really the only reason BSD/SSH is off the future jailbreaking menu? I have my doubt if Cydia,Kate,Intelliscreen and Installer are not the reasons.

The post certainly has some merit. Pusher may be worthwile for some.

However, I would like to point out that SSH can simply be turned off via apps like BossPrefs. Another way is to change the SSH password.

It's an interesting point, and there is definitely a truth hidden in there somewhere, but this is like securing your house by nailing your front door shut. Granted, it's significantly more secure, but who would want to climb in through the window every night?

I've always envisioned an ssh server that works much like the official app store file sharing programs (like AirSharing). It is only active when the ssh program is open, and the program could also override the auto-lock.

Long story short, I'm waiting for pwnage.

I think without jailbreak the iPhone has less possibility. SBSettings, backgrounder and other springboard extensions wouldn't be able to run.
Maybe if when SSH is installed, the user if forced to change the mobile and root password. I've happy with the fact my SHH is on, i turn it off when not needed but i dont feel threatened if its on.
The not voiding the guarantee is a good idea though.

    Just my thoughts...

Rightly said - On /off toggle is there and password changing could be utilised.

It's true... a simple On/Off SSH in BossPrefs as well as Toggle SSH does the job for me. I think they're trying to panic more people and get them to download their software. They're loosing fame as well as most of the Devs after Dev Team started PWNing

Here's some interesting questions to find out about:
Has anybody used it with a Touch?
Does it add items to the phone without making fstab changes?
If it doesn't then the phone isn't as secure as RIPDev claims (DiskAID/iPHUC/etc needs only access to the root partition for use, this is essentially the same as PWNing w/out having SSH preinstalled). Considering it allows for Installer to install unauthorized apps, I'm thinking it's 'no' on this one...
Is there Cydia available to use? I'm doubting this one immensely.
What do these 'extras' RIPDev claims compare to what's already offered via Cydia?
