Default [2.1] SSH'd apps not showing on springboard...

I've been unable to SSH an app and have it show on the springboard ever since I restored to 2.1

    - The apps show in Categories and can add them to a folder.
    - They show in Bossprefs and can be added to the dock.
    - They don't show if they have been added or removed from either of the above.
    - If I try and launch them from the above the open and quit.

My previous setup had most apps in Category folders, I wonder if the backup restore from my previous setup has transferred the hidden settings to the springboard.

    Any ideas would be great.

I'm no expert, but I had the same issue with 2.1 and installed the following from Cydia.

    http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50461

I guess it puts in a new MobileInstallation file or something. This made my ssh'ed apps show up. But in my case, the ones that I had already ssh'ed on there did show up, but any new ones I ssh'ed didn't show up!

Then I uninstalled this Cydia app and now all of them show up. It makes no sense really, but they're showing up now. Maybe there's a cache we need to clear?

If you have ssh and app icons won't show up in the iPhone for firmware 2.1. You can do

    (1) Install an app from Cydia, and this will update the cache

Touch Dial is an easy-to-use application for one touch dial / sms icon on the home screen for iPhone.

This app can read the accelerometer and do phone dial or SMS dial for the same number based on the your setting for Portrait or Landscape Mode of iPhone.

Thanks for the advice gents. Just deleted the com file and now she won't start. It's hangin on boot. Looks like there's another restore on the horizon. This so far has been the worst and the most plagued firmware install to date.

Ok, so after a full restore for the 5th time. I think I've figured out a routine that is working. After each install via SSH I need to "reinstall" the mobile installation patch from Cydia. After closing Cydia the apps show. No restart or nothing.

This is a total PITA. Not sure if it's 2.1 causing this or Pwnage.

Just install any app from Cydia will do the trick. Cydia will refresh the caches after installing something. Then you ssh app will reappear.

Maybe we need a better respring app that will do that for us. We need to respring the springboard anyway...

It's funny... tried it again today and the app didn't show. Installed anything through Cydia didn't work either. Reinstalled the mobile installation patch, that didn't work either and it used too

What did work was cycling the new app through the boss prefs dock.

I have checked and insured that the apps aren't hidden in anyway. Actually using boss prefs is about the only way I know the app is "actually" on the phone.

So far after an app is installed I need to mess around a multitude of ways to get it to show.

    Is this just me?...
