    Default [2.0] Speed dial on homepage?

    There was an app on 1.1.4 - I think Springdial. It allowed you to create an icon on your homepage that was a speed dial.

    I've seen apps in the Appstore that allow for "visual dialing." That is, it creates a 3x3 grid of photos you can call from. But that means launching an app to call someone.

    Is there a way to make a call directly? I imagine if I still had a 1.1.x phone, I could SSH into it and find the structure of the .app file that Springdial created. I'm lazy though and don't want to downgrade.

    Anyone know how to make a quick dial icon? It can come from Appstore, Cydia, or SSH. Or anyone still on 1.1.x who could look at their .app file and let me know what it looks like?

    Thanks!

    same issue for me - but I did it more clever than you :-)))
    I copied the dial.apps over to the 2.0 - not to mention that they don┤t work :-(

    anyway.
    inside the app there is
    dial - the program itself
    icon.pnh - the picture
    info.plist - see below
    number.txt - plain number only: +43 (676) 1234567
    PkgInfo - ??? only content: "APPL????"

    info.plist:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
    <dict>
    <key>CFBundleDevelopmentRegion</key>
    <string>English</string>
    <key>CFBundleExecutable</key>
    <string>dial</string>
    <key>CFBundleIdentifier</key>
    <string>net.mineshaftgap.springdial.Alex(m)</string>
    <key>CFBundleInfoDictionaryVersion</key>
    <string>6.0</string>
    <key>CFBundlePackageType</key>
    <string>APPL</string>
    <key>CFBundleSignature</key>
    <string>????</string>
    <key>CFBundleVersion</key>
    <string>1.0</string>
    </dict>
    </plist>

    so the dial should be done with the "dial" app which is as followed:

    hmmm
    I wanted to post the content but it is 20KB and is too cryptic

    I can see one section like

    @/usr/lib/dyld4ˇp
    G„/usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib\q
    G÷˝/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreFoundation.framework/CoreFoundationT'r
    Gb,/System/Library/Frameworks/Foundation.framework/FoundationL║r
    G┬/System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/UIKitPr
    G/System/Library/Frameworks/LayerKit.framework/LayerKitX┴q
    G@/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreGraphics.framework/CoreGraphics`gr
    G/System/Library/Frameworks/GraphicsServices.framework/GraphicsServices4$q
    G /usr/lib/libsqlite3.0.dylibLP!{G/usr/local/arm-apple-darwin/lib/libgcc_s.1.dylib4IrG^/usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib@-╗BHPţB
    perhaps the libraries give the solution?

    the homepage of the programmer gives the following hint, which might help us:
    Special thanks to Erica Sadun for not just all the incredible work she has done for the community (including the OpenURL which is what the dialer is based off of), but also explaining how appLoad works

    Thanks Rello.

    The homepage of Springdial mentions some links need to be set in order for the program to work. Not sure if creating dial.app won't work, or using them won't work.

    Could you send me the dial.app file? I'm wondering if there's some way to cheat this and make it work. Please remove the phone number so I'm not coming off as a stalker Email is iRobie at gmail dot com

    Thanks!

    somehow it dies not work.
    erica releaded a new version. so I took an old package form her homepage and replaced the openURL executable.

    first I had to change the permissions because they were wrong. but still it does not work.
    when executing the app via ssh for debug reasons I only get the return message "killed".

    any ideas?
