Default [2.0][Auto-correction] Temporary solution to disable it

until we find the way to switch it on/off you can do the following:

under /System/Library/Textinput/ delete specific bundle for the keyboard that you are using

    example:

if you want to disable Autocorection on an English keyboard US or GB delete(or backup on your hard drive) file "TextInput_en.bundle"

    Hope it helps

Moved all bundles in a bak directory, that's even simpler (mv * .. in the bak dir to reenable them). Needs a reboot to work, though.

Biiiiiig THX for this great solution.

Perhaps nice to know: Sometimes are more than keyboard-language selected. In my case it was english and german. I've renamed the german one so I had to deselect the english... After a reboot, it works like a charm

After disabling the auto-correction, can you still double tap the space bar to insert a period and a space?? I ask because there used to be an app called "kb" in Installer for disabling the auto-correction on 1.1.1/2, but as a side effect it'd also disable the double-tap shortcut...

It seems that the double-tap shortcut is made possible by the same file that does the autocorrection suggestions (which makes sense: it is also an autocorrection).

I added Croatian to my list of keyboard languages (because I'm not capable of writing anything in that language), and emptied the corresponding folder /System/Library/TextInput/TextInput_hr.bundle/. Also, I edited /System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/Keyboard-hr.plist to make the space bar display "Off" when the Croatian keyboard is selected and to adjust the labels on other keys ("Go", "Search" etc.). With this setup, there was no autocorrection and no double-tap shortcut. When the file TextInput_hr is put back in the TextInput_hr.bundle/ folder, both functions become active.

So it's none or both until someone patches one of these TextInput files. For me this is good enough for when I want to write a really strange word without being bothered.

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.

Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
    * on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
    * on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).
