Default 1.1.3 summerboard/springboard cant take more than 80 apps

There is a discution in ModMyIfone forums about this, but the got to nothing, and its not working right now

as i said there, i dont know why this isnt being talked about a lot, but if you install more than 78/79/80 apps (this may change, its 80 for me), summerboard crashes when you exit installer, and if you reboot your phone you get stuck with the apple.

if you ssh into the phone and delete apps until you have less than the magic number, the iphone works again.

if you install categories, each categorie you create, counts as an app.

    hidding apps does nothing.

pd: i moved my apps to the media partition, i didnt try to move ringtones and fonts and leave apps in the default place, ill test this in a while.

    pd: help

well... i install most games cause my girldfriend likes many of them, and then many many apps that i usually wont use, but i like having them (like the one for spliting the bills, or the flashlight, etc)

i had TONS of apps on older firmwareS

and i use categories to sort them.

if no fix is posible/wanted/planed (since this is not talked about), i will have to reduce the number of installed ones

in any case, apple said we could have 9 pages, and 9 FULL pages would be 4x4x9 + 4 (from the doc) apps, thats more than 80, and dont forguet the hidden ones (field test, demo app, etc )

i dont understan why is it that no one speaks or cares about this

are there so little appfreacks that install so many apps ?

people in mmi say that in previous versions this used to happen when u didnt install summerbooard, and something in 1.1.3 changed and summerboard isnt fixing this anymore.

One thing that may help, is that Webclips don't count toward your total. I replaced a bunch of pseudo-apps and dialers that were really just web launchers with a Webclip version, and now have over 90 apps (counting the Webclips) with no problem.

And no, themes and such don't count toward the total.

the only things that count are the stuff that ADD a folder in the applications folder (as far as i know).

It is more or less an application limitation (/Applications) in mobile OSX. I also encountered this problem back on 1.1.1 when my Springboard had 5 pages (i.e. 16*5 - 4 dock icons = 80). I uninstalled a single app and my phone was working again.

I had over 100 apps in 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 with no problems. This is a new limit.
