Is it necessary to backup (copy) my iPhone using SSH/Cyberduck?

So that I replace any file while modifying my iPhone if anything goes wrong?

    How should I backup?

Its not necessary to backup but I always have.. that way if I install an App that changes things around or I play with some code and f**k things up I have copy's.

I used winSCP to copy my files it takes forever and a day but its got me and others on this site out of trouble a few times before now.

I don't have mac OS so if your on a mac someone else will have to tell you the correct program you need

n350ziphone, what exactly are you copying for the backup? All the files from the root?
Or is there a smaller subset that's sufficient?
    TIA!

yea theres key files that get changed a lot more then others but you never no what you mite need so I just copy everything apart from a few files that will not copy for some reason

Don't try all the directory in one go it will crash make a folder on the desktop called root start winSCP and drag one folder at a time into your new root folder.
i.e .svn - Applications - bin - cores and so on

Its also a good way to browse all the files without the worry of accidentally causing problems

I'd say with Total Commander and the T-PoT plugin?
