Hmm... I can't locate activation_record.plist either. Another site I saw listed it in the Lockdown folder but its not there on my machine.

you need to take the DeviceCertificate from data_ark.plist which is one of the files that is given in the previuos links then open the activation_record.plist which is in
/private/var/root/Library/Lockdown
and put the the DeviceCertificate below were it starts
<key>DeviceCertificate</key>
<data>
( HEAR )
then save the activation_record.plist and put it back into /private/var/root/Library/Lockdown
should work did for me!

badappleuk, thanks for the response. Apparently activation_record.plist doesn't exist on my phone. I have a folder called activation_records with a plist file named after my device ID. It does have a blank key value for the Certificate but inserting it didn't make it work. Also my data_ark.plist is over written each time the phone is rebooted but the YouTube.app doesn't work before its rebooted.
Frustrating

Well, it worked. I originally followed the tutorial via OSK and iPhuc. After transferring the 3 files didn't work.
Next I did what you suggested and it works now. It has been reported elsewhere though that sometimes after a jailbreak it stops working. I will know shortly, now that i am in hack mode...
Using 1.0 and my directory didn't have the "activation_record" folder.

Ok, jailbreaked via jailbreak, replaced YouTube icon via iPhuc, returned to jail via iActivator 1.1.4 all still working.

Ok SOLVED!!
Basically, there is a different process depending on your Firmware version!
Ok, so if you have firmware 1.0:
- Copy the files kindly donated by deleonju
- Get them onto your phone thru SCP or similar, into /private/var/root/Library/Lockdown
- Copy the certificate key from data_ark.plist into your activation_record.plist file
- Reboot!
However, if you have firmware 1.1:
- Copy the files kindly donated by deleonju
- Get them onto your phone thru SCP or similar, into /private/var/root/Library/Lockdown
- Copy the key out of data_ark.plist to the clipboard
- Open up the original .plist file you used to activate the iPhone, if you used iASign and Tool. If you did it a different way, you will need to find the .plist file that your method used. Check out http://www.hacktheiphone.com/iphone_...intel_mac.html. Even if you activated your iPhone in an easier way, I recommend using this method to unlock YouTube.
- Insert the key from the clipboard into this .plist file. The location it needs to go in is obvious. There won't be a key there already
- Save the .plist file
- using Tool (see hacktheiphone link) firstly deactivate the iPhone.
- then, using syntax provided in the tutorial (link...), activate the iPhone again, using the modified .plist file
- reboot iPhone
- it works!!
Phew. Gee, thanks Apple for changing the file structure of activation_record from 1.0 to 1.1! Led to all sorts of confusion!...
