ViewMMS alpha alpha alpha release
I'm going to go ahead and throw this up, at least I can get some feedback on whether it works for people more than me. Keep in mind this is rough at this point.
This application basically parses your SMS messages and displays all mms notifications. Selecting one logs you into viewmymessages.com without having to type in the random message id and password.
It works for me, so we'll see how it works for others. There is a long list of todo and issues currently:
- Phone numbers aren't correlated to address book names yet
- Date formatting isn't too pretty
- Transition from table view to web view isn't quite right
- Back button on web view doesn't work
- Loading dialogue dissapears long before the page is actually loaded (be patient)
- scrolling and pinching works on the web view, but it doesn't initially scale the page to fit
- It may crash, burn, leak memory, etc.
- there is no application icon
- It may only work with AT&T in the english language, I don't know. Basically it looks for sms that contain the string 'viewmymessage' so if foreign carries still use this then it will probably work.
With that said, it is kinda useful even at this point. Keep in mind that viewmymessage.com really really sucks. It can take 15-20 seconds for the page to load, and in my usage about 50% of the time you'll get a random error. This is not the app's fault, the same thing happens if you try it from your desktop web browser. Also keep in mind that viewmymessage.com only keeps your messages for I think 5 days, so if you try to view an older one you'll probably get an error about an invalid message id.
So, feeling brave? Check it out:

Also, I'm not a graphics guy so if anyone wants to donate an app icon I would greatly appreciate it

Woo-hoo glad you released an alpha version of this =)
I tried it out now, but I'm guessing viewmymessage.com is acting up, because its not liking the login password. I'll try it again later.
Just thought I'd mention, for people that got a bit confused (like me)
You need to change the permissions of the files to 0755
If you don't, it'll just show the loading screen and then close.
debtman7..> nice app, and keep us updated.

I just put up a tar.gz file, the perms are set executable, maybe the zip file just ignores that? The tar file also has debugging output to output the msgid and password it's using.
If you get an invalid msgid or password, try to ssh into the phone and run the app from the terminal and see what it outputs. It will output the msgid and password that it's using so you can check to see if it's getting the right values. In my experience viewmymessage.com usually gives a vauge error message when it acts up and not the invalid password or msgid one.
As for UK, well I don't know. It could work... If UK users get the exact same notification message and use viewmymessage.com it should work. If the notification message is different or a different website is used, it won't work. Basically what the app does is scan the message for the text "Msg ID " and then grabs the next 9 characters as the message id, then looks for "Password " and grabs the next 7 characters for the password. Then this is submitted to viewmymessage.com.

well, i gave it another try with the new .tar file and it still doesn't want to work.
I'm not sure how to do test the app in terminal, so if you give me some instructions I'll report back what it says.

To run it from the terminal you just ssh into the phone and type
/Applications/ViewMMS.app/ViewMMS
then hit return.
The app should launch on your phone. Select the row and it should output a message in the ssh window with the message id and password.
It may not be getting it right although it works for my mms notices. Also make sure the message in question is still there, viewmymessage.com only keeps them for a few days and after that you'll get an invalid message id error. If it works from your desktop web browser though, that's not the issue.

Well, I tried that out..
It launches the app, but when I select the line it says that the SSH timed out.
Problem is.. Now my phone wont close the app. lol

we have a viewer app for the UK but not one to send yet

When you launch it from ssh, apps kind of take over. Forgot to mention that, in the terminal you just hit control-c to kill it and the phone will return to normal.

Wanted to know if you had any update for this, because it still doesn't work for me.
