Is anyone working on a video player for the iPhone that can play more formats than Quiktime? Either porting MPlayer or VLC, or working on codecs for Quicktime. Quicktime for Mac lets you add codecs, like Windows Media and Divx.

How much work is it to port an open source codec for Quicktime for Mac to Quicktime for iPhone?

if the iphone quicktime allows for codecs I'd much rather have a "codec" and still keep the videos in ipod... some hack would probably need to be done for itunes or we can just use ibrickr/ifuntastic to send the files...

I'd love to see VLC on the iPhone. Especially with streaming and transcoding capabilities.
