I call it unofficial because it hasn't be "officially" announced by McAfee.

Essential for people that will use/install 3rd party apps from the unofficial way.
Apple will be responsible about 3rd party apps they will accept on the App Store, so malware/viruses/spyware are unlikely from that way..

The problem is that many features will be unavailable for developers that want to play the Apple game with 2.0.
So from a developer POV the toolchain is a more attractive development environment, since it allows full system access.
There are already a few utilities I use on my iPhone, that could not be run inside the Apple application sandbox.
The number of those applications/utilities will grow with time, and even the need of only one of them would be enough for the casual user to jailbreak and install non-Apple-sandboxed software.
Like it always happens, with tons of nice and good software, also come stuff that may not be so nice.

Yeah, that effing kid was an a$$, excuse my french. Why the **** would a child, I think he was 11, do that? I mean cmon. If he thinks he is cool someone should whip out a gat and blow his brains out. Seriously, if he thinks he is funny go play RuneScape or Habbo or something. I mean I am young too, I am still considered a minor in the U.S. but that really pisses me off. Again excuse my french and I can edit this post if you dont like the language.

Usually all anti virus applications detects eicar:
http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm
That's a simple test file that is universally recognized as a virus, although AV apps do not clean/remove it since it is not a real virus.

Someone should test it out and see if it picks it up.

Yeah, try using jotti. It utilizes many virus scanners and shows the results from each in an easy interface. Very easy to use and convenient!
