Uninstalling apps
I installed a couple of apps but the icons didnt appear on the springboard.
I navigated to /private/var/mobile/Applications and amongst the sub folders there are the apps. e.g. under /private/var/mobile/Applications/09AEA456-5AD3-4DF9-9CE8-FFF5DEB97EBB is one app etc.
I also have duplicate apps where i have attempted the installation more than once in the hope the icon would appear.
Now the question is... how do i unisntall these bloody apps?
I can delete the sub folders, documents, application.app, library, temp. But i cant delete the parent folder (e.g. 09AEA456-5AD3-4DF9-9CE8-FFF5DEB97EBB).
Also does meely deleting these 'uninstall' them?
Oh im on 2.2 jailbroken and yellowsn0wed. Apps wee installed using insatallous.
cheers

That looks screwed up a bit. categories may be the reason.
What I'd do is DFU restore to fw 2.2 (NOT 2.2.1) and re-install the apps. Fiddeling around with the files might have screwed up the structure even mor.
If you do so, after jb in iTunes setup as a new iphone not "restore data from a backup". You might get back the unwanted screwed behavior otherwise.

thanks for the reply Volks
i only jbd it for the first time yesterday.
thing is i couldnt see the icons on the springboard, and this was before categories was installed.
as i mentioned above the multiple installation in Installous meant that the file structure includes multiple instances of the same app. But why would this not show on the springboard? I dont think it categories as this problem existed before i installed categories....
Any thoughts?

Solution
I had the same problem last night, after jailbreaking to 3.0 using redsn0w .72
I installed the same app through installous like 3 times, no icons appeared, but all were listed by categories.
Using the clues above, I used ssh (a program called funbox) to get into my iphone's directory structure, and navigated to...
root/private/var/mobile/Applications/
there were a long list of folders, but by looking at each one, I could see what app it was (there's usually a folder that will say the app name).
I just deleted the 3 duplicate apps, restarted my iphone, and the offending icons were gone.
Worked like a charm.
