uninstall installer apps
Having recently updated to 1.1.1 I have finally managed to get Installer v3.0b4 to work. However, now I have finished SSH'in for a while I want to turn it off (i.e. uninstall it) to preserve my battery life, as I used to (uninstall / install when needed) with 1.0.2. The problem is when I try to uninstall I get the following message - Error Main script execution failed!
I've tried the Systems.app to switch it off but I am not sure that works with my set up. What I would like to ask is:
How can I fix the Error message or how can I manually remove OpenSSH?
I hit the same problem too. What happened is that after the upgrade to 1.1.1, OpenSSH was no longer on the Phone, yet Installer thought it was still there. Thus, you could not uninstall/upgrade it.
I got this resolved by using Term-vt100 to manually modify /var/root/Library/Installer/LocalPackages.plist
- Launch Term-vt100
- "cd /var/root/Library/Installer"
- "vi LocalPackages.plist"
- Search for "ssh" using the vi / function
- Search for "version" using the vi / function
- The version number is directly under the "version" line. Simply change it to a lower number using the vi r function (4.6p1-1 to 3.6p1-1 in my case)
- Go back to vi command mode using the "^[" in the upper left corner of the vt100 pie menu
- Save the file by dong ":wq"
- Launch Installer.app now and you should be able to upgrade OpenSSH again.
I have been having problems with Installer and lately it is not recognizing summerboard, which is installed on my phone. Where does the installer app save its files so I may completely erase it and reinstall. This is not my only problem, lately I have gotten
- when installing installer update (file size does not match)
-adding themes (this download requires summerboard) I HAVE IT!g%$#%
-uninstalling Installer via iPhone (it won't)
-yesterday it made my iPhone go into endless boot and freeze mode which I had to restore..
restoring it fixed the boot problem, but I know it didn't delete all the files. I'll probably end up doing some exploring, no worries if you don't know, either way, soon the truth will be exposed!
