Vnotes work same as SIP client when recording audio with this hack. You have to use headphone mic to record and volume is low like SIP client.

yeah VOIP would be the killer app for the iphone really dunno why apple didn't include this up to now, wouldn't be hard to implement for them... really funny, they must be very scared of the phone carriers not being willing to pay big cash to be the single seller in their coutry....

Yeah - I know Apple make huge bucks out of their cut with AT&T etc however im sure in the long run if they had released the phone Sim Free with a Skype App or something similar then they would prob have doubled their money!!!

How is it going to work when they release the developer pack?? I mean if Skype decide to create an app for the iPhone does it have to be approved by apple? I mean surely AT&T, Orange etc wont be chuffed when this stuff is being made legit however apple need to allow such apps if they want to show the full capabilities of the iPhone.

After reading all about AudioQueue in apple's development site, I contacted Marian with an idea that would render my hack completely unnecessary and with a second idea that would maybe help to increase input volume. I haven't had any response from him (or her?) though.

I'm in the process of installing the toolchain in one of my computers so as to test these ideas over the weekend (of course, only if Marian never answer ).

Well kultschar, I really get the feeling apple just wanted to test out ground with version 1 of the iphone. They seem to be looking a short return with this one.....
I think they will include in a version 2.0 apps like VOIP, what I just don't understand is that they let other manufacturer (the ones that use windows mobile) go ahead and do VOIP.
Especially since you start to get free wireless everywhere, I'm from Switzerland and in the city of lucerne they start with free wireless for the whole city. So I think VOIP will be very important in the next years to come.....

unfortunately, touchmods seems to want to sell their mics or get enough for iphones before helping which is unfortunate

As simple as Apple gets money back from the calls you make so if you do it in VOIP they will get anything from it...
