Yep... you're right... I got caught up in the stupid way OSX Finder won't dive down into .app directories. There are just a couple of image files in there that he's copying into the applications directory.

It says itouch only but has anyone tried it yet on an iPhone?

edit - I just tried it on my 1.1.4 iPhone. It will dial out just fine and you can hear the person you called but clearly the microphone isn't working properly. However I was able to make it make some 'noise' the other end could hear - possibly just feedback - nothing resembling tones or talk... strange that the touch tones didn't work since that shouldn't need the microphone.

Guess we need to wait till the next release - promising - but not as promising as the 'other' siphon app which worked a bit more (but still not enough). Fring's it until this is working I guess.

I think you can right-click an .app folder and choose "show package contents".

Today Samuel Vinson has released a first iPhone-compatible alpha version of Siphon. See http://code.google.com/p/siphon/downloads/list (the first download on the list).

Installation instructions (from http://code.google.com/p/siphon/wiki/ManualInstallation ):

• Unzip downloaded file in /Applications or /Widgets. You may see some error messages during this process, are there are several symbolic links in here that the Installer source would normally deal with. You can safely ignore these errors as we will copy the files manually.
• Copy SiphonSettings.bundle into /System/Library/PreferenceBundles/SiphonSettings.bundle.
• Copy SpringBoard.app into /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app. (Note: this is no replacement for Springboard or something, it simply adds two icons)
• Run the following command to complete the installation:

  /Applications/Siphon.app/Siphon --installPrefBundle

• Restart SpringBoard

What are your experiences with this? Does it run? And does it work (with good audio)?

Good to finally see the iphone version. Now to see how it compares to fring.

I just tried it. 20080526. Still no microphone? Also once it starts I couldn't find a way to make it stop (it puts an old school phone icon in the top bar). Had to kill it manually to make it stop running.

Hopefully he gets the mic working soon.

btw - I'm on 1.1.4.

Yeah, now it works with the headset Sound quality is OK! You can quit the app by starting it again (removes the phone icon form tray). Finally my donation to touchmods has a value.
