I've written an app which places a '+' in the taskbar when you have an unread SMS message. It's been annoying me for ages that once I've clicked Ignore (if I'm busy) then the only place I'm reminded is on the home screen (which I'm never on). So I fixed it :-)

Hopefully it'll find its way on to installer.app soon but for now here's a link to the googlecode page for those of you who know what you're doing (you don't have to compile it, just copy things to the correct places and chmod the binary!). There is a short readme in the zip file.

DO NOT REPLACE YOUR SPRINGBOARD.APP FOLDER WITH THE ONE IN THE ZIP. JUST ADD THE TWO .PNG FILES WITHIN IT TO YOUR CURRENT FOLDER ;-)

HO-LY COW. This is exactly what I have always wanted. And I'm not kidding. Could you make one for missed calls, too? Man I am excited.

ok, did exactly what you wrote in the readme. copied the files and chmod +x SMST.
now, the phone doesnt start up anymore. i can only see the apple-logo.
any solution? any possibility to access a not starting phone?
