Is there a limit on number of applications that you can display on springboard? Or is there a limit on how many applications you can installed?

I just want to be on a safe side because I have heard about the spinning wheel of death regarding this matter.

Install "Categories" from BigBoss and you can install many more ;-)

Categories doesn't overpass the limit, i believe it is Summerboard that does it.

I have 111 icons in my springboard (1.1.4 with summerboard) counting the iphone´s originals.

Sorry, still blurred here. Does that mean I can exceed the 72 limit by just installing Summerboard even if I don't use it?

Yes, but once installed it is active, so you use it in fact.
