If you haven't synced, you haven't backed up! There is nothing in the backup to recover. They are now banished to the land of unwanted 1's and 0's!

Why Ask? Why not just look and report back!

It is possible that it may still be there. From experience with flash drives and using them from PC to Macs if you delate something on one OS the are not fully deleted until you empty the trash.

I'd doubt they are recoverable at this stage, but try and let us know. It is obvious that no one knows the answer

Unfortunately, I can't bring any help to this thread. But, I was just wondering if you back up your iPhone (syncing it) and then it crashes and you restore it, will your contacts go back on?

    Basically, are contacts backed up?

If you want to try retrieving deleted text messages from your iPhone check out out the free Windows utility I wrote here.

There are two ways to Recover SMS/Text Message from iPhone
    1. Directly scan and recover SMS from iPhone
    a) Connect your iPhone to the computer
    b) Enter DFU mode and scan iPhone
    c) Preview and recover iPhone messages

    2. Scan and extract iTunes backup to recover iPhone SMS
    a) Scan your iTunes backup for iPhone 5/4S
    b) Preview and recover iPhone SMS
    c) Do backup well

Do not panic. there can be some solutions for you.
first of all, you can use a data recovery tool for iPhone to recover your deleted text messages.
iPhone SMS Recovery is the right tool for you to recover lost data from iPhone. The recovered data can be photos & videos, music, contacts, SMS, call logs, notes, memos and calendars, even Safari bookmarks.
