Yes yes, i know alot have people have asked for it/about it, and i personally have aswell. I know ALOT of people need this, because it is hard to know if you are sending ONE message or TWO.

Im sure it isnt to hard to count the characters used in SMS. I cant see why no one has made anything yet as EVERYONE needs it (well basically everyone). And A LOT of people will download and use it.

It's hard because it's not simply writing a new app, it's altering the existing SMS app

To write a brand new application which counted characters isn't so hard, but then hooking it into the SMS subsystem isn't a walk in the park!

Hi, I've been doing some development on my iphone and AFAIK its not hard to access the SMS. What constitutes one full message, or separates one and two messages?

I think if the logic is not too difficult I can make a GUI app that will do that.

One SMS ist 160 characters. So on Character 161 is SMS No. 2

may a workaround could be a backroundprogramm that counts the characters and creats a pop up.

Guys, the app from this thread has the potential to do what you want - i can confirm that it works very nicely for sending SMS and accessing the phonebook, and have requested that he add a character counter.

It isn't the easiest app to install and you access it via your iphone browser at https://127.0.0.1

But it does the business and others can probably learn from this guy, so give him some rep and encouragement!
