Request: Scientific Calculator
The iPhone seriously needs a powerful calculator! It would be great if someone would be able to develop a basic scientific calculator that could handle trig functions, sqrt, EE, etc.

I agree with you...
An app like this could be made also using Javascript... However, i think a native app would be more useful, since you can use it anywhere...

Or maybe a replacement for the current calc, normal in portrait and scientific in landscape.

An HP4x emulator would be even nicer

^^^ but that uses wifi... it would be amazing to have a native app version of a scientific calc to replace the one we have... so useful for high school math

Yeah, somome should compile the HP48 emulator for the iPhone! I've seen it for OS X.
That was the coolest calculator EVER, man. I still have one!

Cool... ok, you out nerd me :p
I think it's cool that HP released the firmware for all their calculators into the public domain when they got out of the calculator business. The should get an award from The Supreme Order of Nerds.
Seems like it wouldn't be too difficult to port the HP48 emulator to the iPhone. I had one for my Palm. The screen was too small, though. I think the iPhone might have just a large enough screen for it to be useful.
Hmmm... maybe I should figure out how to actually develop apps for the iPhone...

@Zach23: Noooo, it doesn't require WLAN. It's a bookmarklet (AFAIK, at least).[/QUOTE]

well, I don't need a calculator as powerful as the graphical calculator we use at school (that, even if they are old, are still very powerful: I'm speaking about the Texas Instruments TI-89)...
But a good calculator would be very useful (I mean, a calculator that supports brackets, square roots, constants like PI, or logartims, sin and cos; and maybe solves equations... Like my Sharp EL506B)...
