...without the use of winterboard?

winterboard is slowing down my 2G in an undesireable manner. i only want to get rid of that fuggly dock background. i would be happy without any background or with the one from OS1.1.1

is there a simple way to replace the graphics by SSH into the phone? and if i want to design my own graphic how do they need to be set up? (size, jpg or png)

PLEASE, can anyone guide me to the folder? i browsed through merely all of them but couldnt find it
