I'm a musician, not just guitar and vocals, but electronic music. To have this on an iPhone would be a very moronic idea. Here's why: you would look like an idiot on any stage trying to perform music off a phone. It would look very unprofessional.
What is your purpose for wanting this? Something to play with while your supposed to be working? (Radical suggestion, play modified thumb wars with yourself instead to pass the time).
I mean, seriously, no practicality, and certainly not enough reason to invest time in building this app.

I too am an established musician and disagree. I have a kaoss pad to use when playing live and would never think of using an iphone in a live performance, but i also live in a big city where i ride the bus and subway nearly everyday. This would be a great app to keep me busy and making music while im on the public transport or even when im over at a friends house and dont have my equipment on me.
