Deadstick, would it be possible at all to release the source code for this plugin as well? I might be looking to give you a hand with it (as I'm sure others might be as well) to get some more functionality
Would be great to help you out.

great job! Got instant notification on my 1.1.1 phone
I wish it will be incorporated in mail.app somehow, so when a iMailIdle noticed the new email, it will signal the mail.app to poll email.

Also managed to get it up and running
Great job!
Better integration with mail.app would make it perfect - but already now pretty helpful.

One thing you might want to look at is a disassembly of the SMS app. The Yahoo push email function works by getting a sideband message through sms that tells the iphone mail app to check mail. Such a function no doubt could be called if it could be found.

New version 0.4 available.
This version supports SSL connections and special support for GMail IMAP. Also provided a debug log option so that you can log the operation on your device for debugging purposes.
Enjoy!

I'll try it once I am back home... Sounds terrific!!!

Me too! Well done if it works - congratulations - you may have talked me into keeping my iPhone!
Thanks!

Iīm not sure if I remember correctly, but didnīt someone mention that the monitor dies after a couple of hours of running in the background?
If this is the case, would it be an option to automatically restart the monitor every e.g. hour to defeat this? I guess it wouldnīt hurt normal operation, would it?

bball, I've seen this once myself but couldn't track the spot it died in. I've added debug log functionality so that if it happens hopefully I have more info to see where it's dying (if you have it turned on ie). I've also added some extra exception handling code which will hopefully reconnect if something bad happens. I've run the current version overnight and it was still running in the morning (so a good 12 hours of continuous operation)

Thanks for your quick reply. This sounds promising, tomorrow I will finally get my Iphone and will try to help with testing.
Thanks for your efforts so far!
