Im not a chess player, but I like the chess clock used for tournaments, it can be adapted to a lot of board games where you need to time each player move or play the entire game within a specified amount of time.

I envisioned an app to do the following:

split the screen and show two big clocks, have a settings screen where you can enter player 1 and player 2 names, the amount of time the game will last, and the sound it will use once one player hits the max time.

On the main screen, as I said, two clocks will be shown, once any of the two clocks is tapped it will start counting down time.
When the player stops his clock, the instant after he makes his move on the game board, the other clock starts to countdown and the first one stops. Vibating feedback for clock press would be a nice touch too.

Hope it can be developed, I had great luck asking for a score keeping app time ago (THANKS Psycho) hopefully the history repeats.

If someone makes a chess clock anyway, why not make a Fischer clock, with all the possibilities it has (like incrementing your remaining time by 3 seconds after every move, etc.).

I second this request. Although it doesn't have to look like a clock but a timer. Just as with the best chess clock out there the Chronos.

This app would be very very simple. All we need is two stopwatch-style timers counting down. No buttons necessary. When either player taps the screen the running timer will stop and the the other will start. It could look as simple as one of the pics below. Anyone willing to help me do this using the new SDK?

This would really be great,no need for names of the players,but nice woulb be if it had a settings with a preloaded times,ofcourse it would be nicer yet if you can program your own playing time,from fast blitz 5 minutes games to 25 minutes rapid through standard 1 and half hour game,adding fishers clock makes it even better yet!!,good luck I look forward to see this application,iphone is ideal for this purpose.
