Read local PDF file with Apache
Hi, I read somewhere that you can setup Apache and you can read local PDF files using Safari.
Here are the steps:
1. Install Apache from App Installer.
2. Use iBrickr to create a folder (name it anyway but with space) in /Library/Webserver/documents/.
3. Upload the PDF to the new folder.
4. Launch Safari and browse to http://127.0.0.1/(New folder).
5. PDF should appears in the web page.
I can't get it to work, any idea why??
thanks!!!!

Thanks for the info, but i still prefer to use Apache since I have it installed already.

first the apache installation should have created the folder for you.
I'd suggest checking the apache configuration on "/etc/httpd/httpd.conf"
check that the "DocumentRoot" is pointing to your directory, and further down too.
plus check the permission all the way down the path, in your case "/Library" "/Library/Webserver/" etc. it should be 755
I hope that helped.

furthermore the url in safari has to be "closed" by "/", for example http://127.0.0.1/pdf/
it won't work without that slash!

Hey, I finally got it to work however Safari refuses to open large PDF file, and the smaller ones (less 4 MB) are fine.
Error message: safari can't open the page because it is too large
Any idea?

Split the file.
Ive heard that maximum PDF size is 7 megs.
One of those PDF-Virtual Printer drivers should do what you want. (google CutePDF).
