I found this app from BigBoss called FWChanger.

Has anyone used this to change/fake your firmware on your iPhone 3G from 2.0 to 2.1? I am currently running stock 2.0 but jailbroken, and I want to get iTunes to install an app "designated" for 2.1 without actually upgrade the firmware on the iPhone?

I know FWChanger can fake firmware downgrade (such as to 1.1.3), but does the current version (2.0 according to Cydia) have an option for faking 2.1?

Please help.

Actually I want to seek the opinion of this community because I have read reports that it can lock up the iPhone completely when it is rebooted.

Not having much tech savvy as you do, I am not best person to test out the app and then report my findings here since I will not be able to troubleshoot any problem I may encounter in the process.
