I was looking for a way that I could upload and download files to/from my iphone as there is no disk access available which would be the ideal solution.

Tried MNPLight and I did not like it, plus the transfers seems to hang.

Found pureftpd http://www.pureftpd.org which seemed ideal and has good transfer speeds and I would not need ay cables. COOL.

Installed from Installer and it works access it via ftp://root:yourpassword@youripaddress example ftp://root:dottie@192.168.1.23 was able to get transfer rates of 500-750k

Installed Boss pureftpd prefs plugin so I can easily turn it on and off (as I don't want it running all the time, battery and seurity)

What I noticed was boss prefs OFF did not work, so I ssh in and tried issuing pure-ftpd stop and I get:

# pure-ftpd stop
Unable to stop a standalone server: Address already in use

This is obviously the reason boss was failing to stop also I guess.

Can anyway tell me how to stop the ftp server properly and not via a kill?

PS - If anyway has tips on creating an annomous login to a particular directory that would be great aviod reading the docs :-)
