[Tutorial] iPhone Serial Port I/O with source

I want my soft to be runnable on a OOB iphone2 (so without BSD subsystem and ssh server)

Yes, I think that changing the permission of tty.iap would fix the problem. But, the application is automatically launch with the "mobile" user uid.
How can I change the file's permission without being root ? Is there a way to do that with a posix library ?


There is also an official way to do this, which required the Apple agreement : http://developer.apple.com/ipod/accessories.html see "work for iphone".

I ask for this agreement, but it seems not to be open to personal development. It is a quite long processus :s (including an Onsite Meeting in Apple office)

Hi. I'm new here and I hope you can help me out.

I have build an Iphone application which communicate with my Mac Mini to control a couple of relay cards (USB type). You can see a movie of that project on youtube: YouTube - MacWheelchair

But this combination is draining the battery of my wheelchair to quick, so I had the idea to control the relay cards (serial type) directly from the iPhone.

I have made a drawing. Please have a look at it and tell me if you think this is possible. I'm worried about the ground which is used for the relay card and the iPhone. And I don't think there is a handshake possibility with the relay card. Is this always necessary with serial devices connected to the iPhone?

After all I want to go a step further. I need two relay cards. Is it possible to connected two serial devices to one serial port (iPhone) in a parallel way? The relay cards are addressable (see documentation).
