[Springboard problem?] It stoped working after some app installation

It has happend to me several times, with three different firmware versions: 1.1.4, 2.0.2 and now with the newly 2.1

I think the scenario is always pretty much the same: everything looks fine, I decide to install some new application, start Installer or Cydia, install the application and re-start spring (as forced by the installer).
Then, Apple logo never let the springboard to show up. But win recognizes at some point the device and let me access it as a camera. Also, iTunes recognizes it, but the logo never disappears from the iphone screen.
Most of the times, I had to restore or pwnage, or a combination of both processes to make to iphone works again, but of course this is an annoying procedure.

So, I hope anyone can help with the following:
- as this problem keeps happening no matter how many firmware updates I do, is there something to "clean up" in order to make the solution as permanent as possible?
- let's suppose I can't start the device after some other app installation, is there something I can do to avoid restoring again the whole system?

Firstly keep SSH installed so that u can always log in and delete the problem app

Also when u restore set up phone as new and not from back up

Thanks for your answer. I was actually thinking the same, about keeping ssh service always on, but it is not enough because it is suppose to be always connected to a wifi network, am I wright?
