[SMS] does not show sender's name

I seem to be having a caller-id problem with SMS.

Say, a person called John Smith has the number: +61 400 123 456 (Australian)

When I SMS John, the name is recognized and the message is sent.
However, when John SMS's me back, the number appears as +61 4 0012 3456

But if I go into that SMS and press 'Contact Info' then John Smith comes up.

Is there a way to make +61 4 0012 3456 and 0400123456 both show John Smith in the SMS app?

Add both numbers in the contact profile or use the search about SMS and Contact name.

I had this problem with one number, but it turned out i had the same number listed in two different places in my contact list. I guess the iPhone didn't know which one to use - so it used neither!
