pwn to lower 3g firmware, run ieraser to erase Baseband 2.30 then, bbupdater to 2.28?

Hi all,

I've been following iphone for quite a while, just recently upgrade to 3g, wanted to use it on tmobile, didn't check when i bought it, of course figures it is 2.2.1 with 2.30 BB I came across some old posts which seem pretty logical, can anyone explain why this won't work: Install pwned version of firmware, whichever will allow ieraser to run, erase BB, then bbupdater to install 2.28... Is there something which prevent erasing of BB?? Seems like this should work but, I can't imagine I'm the first one to think of appyling it to 2.30 Baseband... Any one??? Thanks

ieraser and bbupdater only works on the 2g iphone

the bootloader on the 3g wont allow anything to erase the current baseband and to rewrite it as a lower version

in the 3g case, bbupdaterextreme is whats used to update the baseband and probably has an erase function but as long as the bootloader is running sig checks it wont work

my recomendation would be to find someone who uses att but hasnt updated yet and trade them :)

Thanks for the info, I couldn't beleive I was the only one who stumbled on this... I'm in the process of swapping phones now with one that has 2.2, bb 2.28 Your opinion, do you think the 3.0 release will have an updated baseband dev team is hacking, or do you think they're working on getting the 2.28 bb to work with 3.0 (which I read is what the problem is) Thanks again

i think they are trying both, to finish hacking the 2.28BB and the 2.29? but they are more than likely focusing on the 3.0release... i think by the time 3.0 comes out jailbreaking and unlocking will be possible, i just hope the unlock is a more permament method if it can happen
